The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) presented before the National Assembly a law project for proposing the inclusion of the tax fraud as a crime in the Penal Code. The initiative stipulates sanctions of 2 to 5 years and fines of up to 10 times the amount defrauded for those who, for their own benefit or that of a third party, simulate, conceal, omit or deceive a tax obligation with the intention of defrauding the National Treasury.
The Minister De la Guardia pointed out that there is an offense when the amount of the fraud exceeds 300 thousand dollars per fiscal year.
